Niels Hofheinz

Niels Hofheinz is based in Southwest Germany. He spent fifteen years behind the edit suite before he ever lifted a drone. As a professional editor and colourist, he learned what great footage actually needs – and what most aerial work was still missing. When FPV drone imagery landed on his timeline in 2021, the missing piece clicked into place.

What drew him in was never the speed or the adrenaline. It was the perspective: the feeling of being the bird, of threading through a rapeseed field at golden hour, of skimming the rows of a hillside vineyard at arm's length. That same aesthetic pull had once driven him to render FPV-like landscape sequences frame by frame in 3D software – years before the real thing existed. Now he flies them.

Today, Niels runs obenohne.media from Baden-Württemberg, holding a regional flight authorisation covering the entire state. His work fuses FPV and cinematic drone footage with a colourist's precision and a decade and a half of post-production craft.
